this was a Saturday, and we thought we wouldn't do much, however .......
It ended up being a Lord's Day!
Initially we were going to a cricket one day game at Lords (aussies vers England0 but tickets were hard to get etc etc so didnt. Then Dave had this great idea of going to visit and see what it looked like. so .. it was quite easy to get to, tho lots of walking from the underground.
when we got there we went on a tour with heaps of ..(wait for it) Indians! yes Indians (maybe some Pakistanis too, hard to tell!)like Lords, there werent many other european type people. there were so many people wanting to go on tour, that it had to be broken up into groups. We saw the Long room, lots ofhistory in the old part of the place, the stadium itself (only seats 30,000 so quite small) and up into the new media box.
the long room is in here, plus dressing rooms and the players dining room on right end.
the new high tec media centre up high over the ground
this is us in media centre. App. kiwi guys are the only ones mad enough to clean the windows on the outside, hang over the edge or something!
there was a coporate game going on, they can use the pitch that was used yesterday for the one day game.
On the way back we discovered Regents Park, so wandered through there. It was lovely, not too many people, but enough were using it with kids for a sat. outing. I think they are very lucky to have a place like this to go to.
