First Real Day on Boat but stil in Porto!

First breakfast buffet and pigged out! Reasonable coffee for my refined coffee tastes - not too bitter. Lovely Portuguese staff with good English and sense of humour. They look so serious (think of that Portuguese girl on Love Actually!) but when they smile the light is shining bright and gleaming!

We actually went on a bus tour of Porto today but went to this Palace of the Stock Exchange = literally it is called that. A very old stone palace where the local govt (including Counts etc) have been meeting for centuries to sort out Porto's woes.

Tiled courtyard inside

Mostly wood walls and celings and gorgeus brass chandeliers.

So not the gaudy, glittery stuff of Italy but very impressive anyway

On the walk back to the boat we had an amazing view.

Now people, this is the most impressive place. Guess what it is? Scroll down and I will let you in on the secret!

It is the main railway station! It has these incredile tile mosaics which tell the history of Porto in historical order.

Back to boat and we are finally off!

Passed the navy ships in town.

Historical Navy boat - like the Spirit of Adventure.

Quite exciting to be on our way and see the river from the river. We don't go for long but under lots of bridges connecting the two sides.
